I paid for these options, so I would like an amp that allowed me to take advantage of the options like amp adjustment from the head unit, etc. Also, 10" or 12" and 2 ohm or 4 ohm? I do not have a H/O alternator, are these necessary? It all depends on what type of bass you want. A 10" is gonna be real snappy but not hit the low bass. The bigger the sub the lower the bass. If you are only running one amp I wouldn't worry about H/O alt. Unless your lights dim when bass hits. Otherwise seek a dry cell battery. Might be a cheaper buy and you can install that yourself, Keep with a Alpine amp as well. Check out a Best Buy or other audio store and they'll help with a compatible amp that will function and sound the best without having to worry about alt. or battery. I have 2 12' dvc running at 2 ohms and an 1800w mona amp at 1 ohm, as well as a 500w amp for my front speakers and tweeters. I haven't had any issues in the 6 months i've been driving. Saturn . How to Add a Float Switch to a PumpA float switch is essential for an automatic bilge to work. It is a lever that actuates as the water level rises, eventually triggering the pump when the water level gets too high. The float switch is wired to the "automatic" circuit of a three-way switch so that the pump can be turned on, off or to the float switch. A float switch must be carefully installed so that it does not accidentally turn on or impede any mechanical movement of the engine. Difficulty:Moderate Instructions Things You'll Need Float switch Insulated copper wire Cable ties Wire strippers Butt connectors Heat shrink Heat gun Soldering iron Silver core solder Spray-on electrical insulation Screwdriver Step by Step : 1 Disconnect the negative battery terminal. Mount the float switch so that the arm actuator points toward the stern by drilling small screws into the hull. This prevents water surge from engaging the switch when the boat takes off. Make sure the switch is above the bilge pump intake so that the pump will always have water in it when the switch turns it on. Do not use screws that will rust or pierce the hull. 2 Cut a length of wire that will go from the switch to the pump. Slide two heat shrink tubes over the wire, and slide one end into butt connectors and the other into a ring connector. The ring connector should be just large enough to slip onto the pump's post terminal. 3 Connect the butt connector to the output connecting post of the switch, and the ring terminal to the positive post of the pump. Make sure the connectors are solidly connected to their respective posts. 4 Slide the heat shrink tubes over the connections and heat them with the heat gun. This will seal the connections so that bilge water will not interfere with the switch. 5 Cut another length of wire and slide a heat shrink tube over it. The wire should be just long enough to reach from the float switch to the three way bilge pump switch. 6 Slide one end of the wire into a butt connector and connect it to the input terminal of the float switch. Heat shrink the connection with a heat gun. 7 Solder the input wire to the automatic post of the three-way bilge switch using silver core solder. Spray electrical insulation on the solder joint after it cools. 8 Wrap cable ties around the wire between the float switch and the three-way switch, and hang them from a water hose or another mounting point that will not get in the way of the motor's operation. Tips & Warnings Don't forget to reconnect the negative battery cable when you've finished installing the float switch. Make sure to use the proper gauge wire for your bilge pump. It is better to use wire that is oversized than undersized.

The pumps can be manual or made automatic with the installation of a flip switch. You should have one or more pumps installed in your boat depending on its size. The larger the boat, the more water that can come in and needs to be removed. Rule-Mate pump installation is challenging, so you should call a professional if you do not have boat repair experience. Difficulty:Moderately Challenging Instructions Things You'll Need Work gloves Rule-Mate bilge pump Tape measure Waterproofed plywood Smooth-bore hose In-line fuse holder Extension wire Circular saw Soldering iron Putty knife Screwdriver 3-pole switch Marine adhesive sealant Step by Step : 1 Measure the width, height and depth of the Rule-Mate bilge pump with a tape measure. Draw the measurements on the waterproofed plywood and cut the plywood using the saw. 2 Put a coat of the adhesive sealant on the sides and the edges of the plywood. Attach it to the area where you want to place the Rule-Mate bilge pump. Cover the plywood completely with more sealant using the putty knife. Wait for 48 hours for the adhesive sealant to dry. 3 Check to make sure the sealant is dry. Take the Rule-Mate pump from its mounting base. Use the screws included with the bilge pump to screw the mounting base into the adhesive-covered plywood. Put the pump in the mounting base and click the latches. 4 Find the pump outlet and insert the hose. Run the hose through the discharge hole and then through the hull fitting. The discharge hole needs to be above the waterline to stop water from cycling back through the pump. Make the hose as short and as straight as possible in order for the pump to work best. 5 Weld the in-line fuse holder to the pump's red power lead with the soldering iron. Attach the extension wire to the other terminal of the fuse holder. 6 Fasten the extension wire to one end of the three-pole switch. Secure the switch's center terminal to the boat's common power bus and the pump's black wire to the common ground of the boat.
